What is AviationADR?
If you’ve made a complaint against an airline and you’re not happy with its response, or it hasn’t responded within eight weeks, you can escalate your complaint to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) service (if it has signed up to one) or escalate to the CAA.
Airlines voluntarily chose to sign up to an ADR scheme.
AviationADR currently has 19 airlines signed up, including Virgin Atlantic, Flybe and Norwegian, and has the most members out all UK ADR schemes.
Any decisions AviationADR makes about your case won’t be binding on you as a consumer unless you agree, but its decisions are binding on the airline. If AviationADR rules that you’re owed a compensation payment, the airline must pay out within 30 days.
But Ryanair has now cut ties with AviationADR, leaving passengers with outstanding claims in limbo.
